National Geological Archives of China (NGA) was founded in 1952, is an official national geological archives in China. The collection and management of national wide geological documents, as well as the delivery of geo-data services are the main duties of the NGA. The NGA has a collection of more than 100,000 items of geological documents covering from regional geology, marine geology, hydro- engineering- and environmental geology, geo-hazard survey, mineral exploration data of energy minerals, ferrous metallic minerals, noble metallic minerals, nonferrous metallic minerals, nonmetallic minerals, as well as ground water resources, data of geophysical and geochemical investigation, image of remote sensing. Such geological data was produced by various organizations and personals in various periods from 1907 to now. Some important geological manuscripts produced by famous Chinese geologists is well protected. Most of the collections are in Chinese; some of them are in English, Japanese,Franch and Russia. The NGA has started projects to digitalize the important historically geological documents. Newly produced geo-data is mainly stored in CD forms.
