Established in 1994, Bose Pacia was the first gallery in the West specializing exclusively in contemporary South Asian art. Over the past decade, Bose Pacia has held over 60 exhibitions and is internationally regarded for promoting the South Asian avant-garde. The gallery fosters an active discourse between contemporary South Asian artists and the international art community by featuring exhibitions that contextualize contemporary art from this geographic region within its rich artist traditions and current social tensions.
In December of 2003, Nature Morte partnered with Bose Pacia and opened a new 2500-square-foot gallery space in the heart of New Delhi. Nature Morte was founded in 1982 by Peter Nagy. It had been a fixture in New York's East Village art scene throughout the 1980s. The partnership between Bose Pacia and Nature Morte has continued and in 2006 Bose Pacia Kolkata opened its doors as the latest collaboration between these two galleries. Together Bose Pacia, Nature Morte, and Bose Pacia Kolkata continue to promote avant-garde contemporary art from South Asian and beyond.
