The museum has been inaugurated in 1975 in the sheds, up to then stables, of Villa Pignatelli. The museum was born thanks to the donation in 1975 of the collection of the Marquis of Civitanova, previously hosted in the Resina villa. To this collection others have been added: that of the earl Dusmet, of the marquis Spennati, of the earl Leonetti, of Mrs Stringari and of the architect De Felice, who has cured the display. Apart from the Italian, French and English carriages of the XIX and XX century, there are refined harnesses, bits, bridle, whips, ivory and silver handles.
