We have something to celebrate! In 2010 the Kunsthaus will observe the centenary of its first component,
the pioneering work of Karl Moser. Instead of a grand ceremony, however, we have decided
to hold festivities throughout the year in the form of a very special exhibition programme. We begin
with the Bührle Collection, which though world-renowned has in fact been seen by only a few.
Then in the summer, Thomas Struth, a leading contemporary photographer, will demonstrate just
what his versatile medium is capable of. We also plan to embark on a great adventure: in 1932
Picasso had his first-ever museum show – at the Kunsthaus. What was scandalous at the time has
long since commanded stellar prices, and Picasso’s masterpieces hang in museums the world over.
We will show the painter’s work as it was received by his contemporaries – and marvel anew at the
power of his genius. Our abundant centenary programme has lots more in store, with every facet of
our venerable and yet eternally young Kunsthaus on view. We’re looking forward to your visit!
