El nuevo Museo Paleontológico de Chile responde a un esfuerzo del Grupo de Investigaciones Paleontológicas de Chile por dar a conocer entre nuestros niños y jóvenes esta ciencia de un modo cercano y vivencial. Aquí podrán encontrar dientes de mamut, restos de plesiosaurios y gliptodontes, además de fósiles y plantas. Es el primer museo chileno que centra su muestra en este tipo de elementos que nos permiten hacer un viaje imaginario al pasado, a millones de años atrás, para comprender mejor cómo era la vida en nuestro país y en nuestro planeta en esa época remota.
Este museo es el resultado de 16 años de trabajo del Grupo de Investigaciones Paleontológicas de Chile (GRINPACH), y su principal objetivo apunta a difundir la paleontología nacional, acercando a la gente a esta ciencia de gran interés para la comunidad, pero de escasa difusión en los medios. Por esto este primer logro es el inicio de un proceso que pretende continuar para ampliar el actual museo y concretar otras iniciativas tendientes a dar a conocer mejor esta ciencia.

The new Museum of Paleontology Chile responded to an effort by the Research Group for Paleontology Chile awareness among our children and youth of this science as a close and vivid. Here you can find mammoth teeth, and remains of glyptodonts plesiosaurios, besides fossils and plants. Chile is the first museum shows focusing on such elements that allow us to make an imaginary journey to the past, millions of years ago, to better understand what life was like in our country and our planet in the distant past.
This museum is the result of 16 years of work of the Paleontological Research of Chile (GRINPACH) and its principal seeks to disseminate national paleontology, bringing people to the science of great interest to the community, but lack of knowledge in the media. Therefore this first achievement is the beginning of a process that aims to continue to expand the current museum and other specific initiatives to raise awareness of this science.
