La escritura, representación gráfica de la palabra, es la palabra misma persistiendo en el espacio y en el tiempo. Ambas se unieron para dar fe de los acontecimientos en un acto que resguarda los derechos de las personas y los pueblos, desde hace 3500 años, transmitiéndolos a generaciones futuras.
El acto intangible de dar fe, acreditando verdades que sólo son accesibles por mediación de otras personas, necesitó de un artífice: el escribano.
Desde la Antigüedad hasta nuestros días, esta figura recorrió caminos íntimamente ligados al desarrollo de la escritura y al devenir de los pueblos y, si bien -como nos recuerda Rafael Núñez Lagos- “el documento hizo al notario, aunque hoy el notario haga el documento”, la tríada compuesta por la palabra, la escritura y el escribano siempre fue indisoluble. El Museo Notarial Argentino lo invita a transitar por los momentos fundamentales de la historia del documento y de la función notarial.
Rendimos homenaje, de esta manera, a todos los notarios, haciendo nuestro el concepto expresado en el siglo XVI por Maximiliano I de Austria, destacando el trascendental aporte de los escribanos en la ”conservación de la justicia y la paz y en la preservación de la memoria de los hechos y de los hombres".
